Transcription-Based Video Editing for Faster Workflow

Dear Focusee Team,

I would like to request the addition of a transcription-based video editing feature to Focusee. This feature would allow users to edit their videos directly through text transcriptions, making the editing process much faster and more intuitive. Below are some suggested details for how this feature could work, inspired by the workflow of tools like Tella:

  1. Automatic Transcriptions: Once a video is uploaded or recorded, Focusee would automatically generate a transcription of the video's audio. This should be accurate, with support for multiple languages, to cater to a wide range of users.

  2. Text-Based Editing: Users could edit their videos by interacting with the transcript. For example:

    • Deleting specific sentences or words in the text would automatically cut the corresponding segment in the video.

    • Rearranging sentences in the transcription timeline could change the order of the video clips seamlessly.

    • Adding notes or text could integrate subtitles or captions directly.

  3. Highlighting and Click-to-Navigate: The video player would highlight the transcription in real-time during playback, allowing users to click directly on any word or section of the transcript to jump to that part of the video.

  4. Filler Word/Silence Removal: An option to automatically detect and remove filler words like "um," "ah," and long silences from the video by selecting them in the transcript.

  5. Export and Customization: Enable exporting edited transcripts or embedding video subtitles. Users should have control over the style and layout of captions for branding and accessibility.

  6. Collaborative Editing: The feature could support collaborative workflows by enabling teams to leave comments and make edits on the transcription, streamlining the review process.

This feature would dramatically improve the efficiency of content creators, educators, and businesses who need to produce polished videos quickly.

I hope you find this idea valuable and look forward to seeing Focusee continue to innovate. Thank you for your attention!

Thank you for your feedback. The following questions will help us gain a deeper understanding of your needs:

    1. When creating videos, how often do you use the features you suggested?

    2. For these features, do you think transcription speed or accuracy is more important?

    3. In which types of videos do you mainly use this feature?

Transcript Editing would just make it easier + quicker. Look at Descript. I’m almost thinking of exporting from Focusee to Descript just for the quicker editing.

Hello, FocuSee 2.0 now supports transcribing and identifying silence and filler words, allowing for one-click deletion of redundant clips. As for the other features you mentioned, we have added them to our roadmap and are considering implementation solutions. Thank you.

          This is not enough!
You really should take a look at what Descript and Loom do for transcript based editing.

        THIS!!!
I did try this a while ago, and while it worked very well in Descript, it was a pain to export the video out. However, it exposed one of Focusee’s weaknesses which is the lack of transcript based editing.
